Job summary

Nucor Corporation's Lexington-based Rebar Fabrication Southeast division is seeking a CAD/detailing focused trainee. You’ll learn AutoCAD and RebarCAD within a supportive team, detailing simple projects and supporting fabrication, delivery, and invoicing with accuracy and efficiency.

As you develop, you’ll study reinforcing bar basics, read blueprints, and coordinate with customers and engineers to resolve questions.

Qualifications

• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future.
• Vocational certificate or related degree in CAD design/drafting or an equivalent program from an accredited school.
• At least six months experience using AutoCAD and Windows-based software.
• Able to read architectural/engineering blueprints.

Responsibilities

• Develop working knowledge of AutoCAD and RebarCAD detailing systems.
• Develop basic knowledge of reinforcing bar industry and reference materials (CRSI/ACI).
• Detail simple projects with minimal supervision (foundations, walls, footings, piers, slabs, stairs).
• Submit placing drawings for approval and ensure conformance to QA and shop requirements.
• Process change orders to maximize returns for the branch.
• Maintain all deliveries for fabrication.
• Communicate with customer, placer and Architect/Engineer; submit RFIs as needed.
• Coordinate with Detailing Manager to pre-order specialty items to maintain schedules.
• Follow projects from estimate through detailing and fabrication to installation.
• Assist in construction resolution discussions for time and cost efficiency.
• Participate in weekly safety and progress meetings.
