Job summary

Maine Recycling Corporation seeks a detail-oriented Data Entry & Accounting Support Specialist to assist in high-volume data entry, AP/AR, reconciliations, and financial recordkeeping for Maine's Bottle Bill and recycling sector. The role supports accounting and operations teams with accuracy and confidentiality.

The position is full-time and in-person at Lisbon Falls or Bangor, requiring strong Excel/Sheets skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary education in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field.
• Experience in accounting, bookkeeping, AP/AR, data entry, or a related role preferred.
• Experience working with financial records and large volumes of data.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, and time-management skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and/or Google Sheets.
• Ability to identify discrepancies, resolve issues, and manage competing priorities.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality when handling financial information.

Responsibilities

• Perform high-volume data entry and verify financial and operational information for accuracy.
• Enter and maintain vendor invoices, customer invoices, payments, and adjustments.
• Assist with account reconciliations, month-end activities, reporting, and financial record maintenance.
• Review information from multiple sources, identify discrepancies, and help resolve issues.
• Maintain organized electronic and paper records.
• Support accounting and operational activities related to Maine's Bottle Bill and beverage container redemption and recycling.
• Collaborate with accounting and operations teams to ensure accurate, timely financial and operational records.
• Perform other accounting and administrative duties as assigned.
