Overview:
Our client is seeking a (part-time) Desktop Support Technician to provide hands-on technical support for an enterprise environment in Buffalo, NY. This role will support end users with desktop hardware, Microsoft technologies, networking, VPN connectivity, security tools, and enterprise applications. The ideal candidate will have strong troubleshooting skills, a customer-service mindset, and the ability to work independently in an onsite environment.
Responsibilities:
- Provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 technical support for desktop, hardware, software, networking, and end-user technology issues.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues involving Microsoft Windows desktop operating systems and enterprise applications.
- Support Microsoft 365/Office 365, Active Directory, and other back-office enterprise systems.
- Diagnose and remediate slow or underperforming PCs and other workstation issues.
- Perform hardware troubleshooting and replacement, including monitors, mice, keyboards, and other peripherals.
- Install, configure, and support endpoint security solutions, including EDR and MDR technologies.
- Troubleshoot and support remote client VPN connections.
- Diagnose basic network connectivity issues involving TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and related networking technologies.
- Apply basic security principles to identify, troubleshoot, and remediate endpoint and user security issues.
- Provide basic support for cloud-based technologies and services.
- Document troubleshooting activities, resolutions, and equipment changes as appropriate.
- Provide professional and responsive customer service to end users.
Qualifications:
- Multiple years of experience providing Tier 1 and/or Tier 2 desktop or technical support in an enterprise environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Windows desktop operating systems.
- Experience supporting Microsoft 365/Office 365, Active Directory, and enterprise applications.
- Hands-on experience troubleshooting and replacing computer hardware and peripherals.
- Experience diagnosing and remediating slow or underperforming PCs.
- Experience supporting remote client VPN connections.
- Knowledge of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, DNS, and DHCP.
- Experience with EDR and MDR functionality and installation.
- Basic understanding of cloud computing concepts.
- Knowledge of basic cybersecurity principles and the ability to troubleshoot and remediate security-related issues.
- Strong troubleshooting, communication, and customer service skills.
