About the Role
Archer & Greiner (“Archer”), PC, one of the region’s leading full-service law firms, is seeking an experienced Desktop & Infrastructure Engineer to join our Information Services team. This is a senior-level role for a technically strong professional who thrives in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment and takes pride in delivering reliable, high-quality technology solutions to a demanding user base.
The primary focus of this position is desktop engineering and end-user computing. The successful candidate will also support core Microsoft infrastructure technologies and will assist with systems and network administration as needed and as assigned. This role reports to the Chief Information Officer.
Responsibilities
- Lead desktop engineering efforts, including Windows system design, configuration, deployment, patching, and lifecycle management.
- Administer and maintain Group Policy, desktop security configurations, and user profile management across the firm.
- Troubleshoot complex desktop, operating system, application, and user environment issues, providing senior-level escalation support to the Help Desk team.
- Support and administer key business applications in coordination with the Applications team.
- Collaborate with IS leadership, internal technical teams, and technology partners on projects, upgrades, and strategic initiatives.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, standards, and procedures, ensuring currency and version control.
- Assist with administration and troubleshooting of Active Directory and Microsoft Entra ID, including users, groups, authentication, and access.
- Assist with Windows Server administration, including file services, NTFS and share permissions, security groups, and access control.
- Participate in Microsoft Azure administration and cloud infrastructure initiatives.
- Troubleshoot infrastructure-related issues involving DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, network connectivity, authentication, and name resolution.
- Work with the Network and Infrastructure team on systems administration, infrastructure troubleshooting, upgrades, and projects.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in desktop/endpoint engineering, systems administration, or a similar technical role, preferably in a professional services or legal environment.
- Strong hands-on expertise with Windows desktop environments, Active Directory, and Group Policy.
- Experience with enterprise desktop deployment, configuration, patching, application delivery, and user profile management.
- Experience using PowerShell for administration, troubleshooting, and automation.
- Experience with application administration and troubleshooting.
