Job summary

General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT) is seeking a hands-on Principal End User Experience / Desktop Automation Engineer to support enterprise desktop environments, with strong scripting and endpoint administration to automate workflows and improve user performance.

The role emphasizes data-driven insights, Splunk-based observability, and integration of tooling (SCCM, Intune, Tanium) to raise endpoint health and deliver measurable improvements for the organization in Annapolis Junction,

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 8+ years of related experience in endpoint engineering or desktop engineering.
  • Strong scripting, desktop administration, SQL querying, data analysis, and automation skills.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain automation solutions using scripting (PowerShell, SQL, SQLite, SCALE, etc.) to support endpoint management and workflows.
  • Administer and support enterprise desktop environments (Windows preferred).
  • Create and maintain SQL queries and data sets to analyze endpoint performance and user experience metrics.
  • Leverage analytics frameworks to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
  • Utilize Splunk dashboards, searches, and alerts to monitor endpoint health and KPIs.
  • Integrate desktop tooling (SCCM, Intune, 1E, Tanium) with analytics platforms for centralized visibility.
  • Automate remediation actions based on data-driven thresholds.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure, operations, and service desk teams to improve end-user experience.
  • Build dashboards and reports for leadership and operational teams.
  • Document automation workflows, scripts, and analytics models.

Principal End User Experience / Desktop Automation Engineer

We are seeking a hands-on End User Experience Engineer with strong scripting and endpoint administration experience to support enterprise desktop environments. This role focuses on automation, operational analytics, and improving end-user performance through data-driven insights and tooling integration.


The ideal candidate blends desktop engineering expertise with scripting, data analysis, and Splunk-based observability to improve endpoint health, performance, and user experience.


How an Principal End User Experience / Desktop Automation Engineer will make an impact


  • Develop and maintain automation solutions usingscripting (PowerShell, SQL, SQLite, SCALE, etc) to support endpoint management and operational workflows

What You’ll Need to Succeed



  • Education:Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS)

  • Experience:8+ years of related experience of endpoint engineering, desktop engineering, or end-user experience roles

  • Required Skills:
    • Strong scripting experience
    • Desktop administration / endpoint engineering experience
    • Experience queryingdata using SQL/ SQLite
    • Experience analyzing operational or performance data
    • Troubleshooting Windows endpoint issues at scale
    • Experience building automation for operational efficiency

  • Experience Requirements:
    • Strong hands-on automation and scripting background
    • Experience supporting large-scale enterprise environments

  • Preferred Skills:
    • Splunk power user experience (search, dashboards, alerts)
    • Experience working with endpoint management platforms (SCCM, Intune, 1E, Tanium, etc.)
    • Experience with endpoint analytics frameworks
    • Experience building data pipelines for operational metrics
    • Familiarity with user experience monitoring tools
    • Experience integrating multiple endpoint tools into a single analytics view
    • Knowledge of ITSM-driven automation

  • Location:Annapolis Junction, MD

  • Security Clearance:TS/SCI with Polygraph

  • Citizenship:US Citizenship required

  • Certification Required: DoD 8570 IAT Level II certified
