Referment is working with one of the world’s leading hedge funds to appoint a Desktop and Workplace Engineer for its New York office.
This is a senior, highly visible position supporting portfolio managers, analysts, traders and corporate leaders within a fast-moving investment environment. You will be the most senior on-site escalation point in New York, taking ownership of complex technology problems that cannot be resolved through standard support channels.
The role combines deep technical troubleshooting with the judgement, responsiveness and communication needed to support demanding front-office users. You will work across endpoints, identity, connectivity, productivity platforms and trading applications, while overseeing the day-to-day service delivered by the firm’s managed service provider.
Technology problems in a hedge fund can have an immediate impact on investment decisions and trading activity. You will be trusted to understand the urgency, diagnose issues quickly and coordinate the right people until a lasting solution is in place.
If you enjoy solving difficult technical problems, working directly with highly capable users and taking ownership when the pressure is on, this is an exceptional opportunity.
The role extends well beyond resolving individual tickets.
You will need to understand how endpoint, identity, network, cloud and application technologies interact within a complex financial environment. When an issue crosses multiple systems or teams, you will take responsibility for driving it through to resolution.
You will also help improve the overall service by identifying patterns, strengthening documentation, automating repetitive work and ensuring the MSP meets the standards expected by the business.
You will bring at least seven years of experience in desktop, workplace, end-user or systems engineering, including significant time operating at Tier 3 or senior escalation level.
Experience supporting a hedge fund, trading firm, investment bank or similarly demanding financial environment would be particularly valuable.
Exposure to Bloomberg, FlexTrade, market data terminals or OMS and EMS platforms would also be highly advantageous.
This is an opportunity to become a key technology figure within the New York office of a top global hedge fund.
You will work directly with the people responsible for investment decisions and trading activity, solving problems where speed, judgement and technical accuracy genuinely matter.
This could be an excellent next step for a Senior Desktop Engineer, Workplace Technology Engineer, End User Computing Engineer, Trade Floor Support Engineer or senior infrastructure support specialist who wants greater ownership and closer exposure to the investment business.
If you want to become the trusted technology escalation point for one of the world’s leading hedge funds, we would like to hear from you.
