Technibus, Inc. is seeking a Telecom Designer to join our national IES Design Branch. The role focuses on low voltage telecommunications infrastructure design and consulting for tech-enabled spaces, handling multiple projects simultaneously with precision and high-quality output.

You will lead design efforts, collaborate with architects and end users, review drawings, and coordinate with vendors to ensure timely, cost-efficient solutions that meet customer and company standards.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Contribute as a key member of the project design team with expertise in telecommunications systems.
• Lead projects, perform design work, and delegate production tasks following code requirements.
• Meet with clients to assess system needs and maintain strong client relations.
• Engage in design meetings to determine project goals and requirements.
• Collaborate with CAD/BIM staff to develop construction drawings and system layouts.
• Review submittals and coordinate with architects, contractors, and other engineers.
• Provide complete project design, space layouts, and material selections.
• Attend design meetings with end users or contractors, in person or virtually.
• Review drawings and RFPs to ensure alignment with standards and quality.
• Develop and layout construction schedules with input from end users and operations.
• Act as liaison between sales, PM, and operations during project turnover.
• Source vendors to obtain best value and lead times for materials.
• Ensure design work meets customer and company quality and safety standards.
• Participate in training sessions on technical requirements.
• Handle other responsibilities as assigned.

Job Summary

The Telecom Designer will be a part of our national IES Design Branch. The Telecom Designer will be highly skilled in the design of low voltage telecommunications infrastructure systems. The role is to provide consulting and design services to clients for technology enhanced spaces. The position requires the designer to actively participate in the design process for several projects at the same time while ensuring efficiency, accuracy and top‑quality work is delivered to our clients.

Responsibilities

• Contribute as a key member of the project design team, bringing a significant level of expertise in telecommunications systems.
• Lead projects, execute design work, and delegate production tasks; perform complete technology systems design according to code.
• Meet with clients (architects and end users) to assess system needs, owner standards, and project requirements; maintain good client relations.
• Engage in design meetings with clients to determine project goals and requirements.
• Work collaboratively with the CAD/BIM Staff to develop high‑quality telecommunications infrastructure construction drawings, details, and systems drawings.
• Review submittals of shop drawings, coordinating with architects, contractors, engineers, and other consultants.
• Provide complete project design, space layouts, selection of applicable materials.
• Attend all required design meetings with end users or contractors, in person or virtually.
• Review drawings, RFPs and other design work products for quality assurance to support IES and client design standards.
• Develop and graphically layout a construction schedule with the end user and IES operational team input.
• Act as liaison between sales, project management and operations when the project is turned over for installation.
• Follow company guidelines on preferred selection of vendors and products; work with vendors to obtain best solution, competitive price, and proper lead‑time on materials.
• Ensure all design work meets the customer and company quality and safety level.
• Attend training and review sessions on technical requirements per company’s training guidelines.
• Handle other responsibilities as assigned.

Compensation

Min: USD $115,000.00 / year. Max: USD $140,000.00 / year.

Qualifications

• Must be self‑motivated, positive, professional, and lead others to create and implement project process improvement(s).

• Proven problem‑solving, critical thinking, and effective oral and written communication skills.
• High skill level to interpret blueprints and other project documents, including specifications, reporting and quality requirements.
• Able to travel within the United States as needed.
• Able to learn company and customer project management systems.
• Manage multiple projects/estimates with a high level of organization.
• Regular attendance is mandatory.
• High School diploma or GED equivalency (Bachelor’s Degree preferred).
• RCDD or other low voltage design credential strongly preferred.
• Low voltage design industry experience required (minimum 5 years). Also experience in low voltage contracting or related technical or construction field (minimum 5 years).
• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, MS Project); familiarity with AutoCAD and Revit strongly preferred.
• Meet company minimum driving standards.
• Design and develop a written and graphic representation of the company’s proposed solutions utilizing provided software resources.
