Design Specialist (Construction)

Primary Responsibilities

1. Using computer-aided drafting, prepares complicated concrete formwork layout drawings for assigned projects.
2. Responsible for the design and detailing of forming systems.
3. Reviews and analyzes the project documents and identifies drawing and specification conflict, insufficient information, and missing dimensions while contributing ideas to enhance project productivity and cost-efficiency.
4. Prepares quantity takeoffs and estimates as required at an advanced level.
5. Evaluates and coordinates material requirements with field supervisors to ensure availability and efficient utilization of equipment on assigned projects.
6. Ensures duplication and delivery of up-to-date drawings and instructions to the job site.
7. Records, updates, and maintains RFI, Product Submittal, and drawing logs.
8. Ensures efficient inventory control and storage of shop drawings and contract documents.
9. Performs special projects and completes all other duties as assigned or requested for the general support of the organization.

Minimum Qualifications

1. Associates Degree or Certificate in Computer Aided Drafting or equivalent work experience plus five years of experience performing similar primary responsibilities.
2. Strong mathematical and visualization skills.
3. Advanced PC skills, specifically in a Windows environment, including collecting and analyzing data in Excel and creating documents and preparing correspondence in Outlook and Word.
