ALTEN Technology USA is seeking an experienced automotive ECU engineer to design, develop, validate, and release electronic control units for North American vehicle lines, collaborating with suppliers and internal teams across multiple locations.

You will develop and revise DFMEA and DVP&R documents, monitor warranty issues, support vehicle builds, mentor peers, and drive continuous improvement while applying GD&T and rigorous problem-solving to deliver robust product solutions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical, mechanical, automotive engineering or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in automotive engineering with focus on electrical systems and components.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to resolve technical issues and optimize designs.
  • Strong interpersonal communication, adaptable to work on multiple programs, proactive and driven for results.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development and release of ECU components.
  • Root Cause Analysis: Identify and resolve technical issues utilizing root cause analysis and problem-solving techniques.
  • Best Practices and Documentation: Create, implement, and manage engineering best practices, including core DFMEA and DVP documents for driveline systems.
  • Continuous Improvement: Proactively seek opportunities to improve designs, processes, and products through innovative solutions and best practices.
  • Mentoring: Mentor and provide technical direction to other engineers.
  • Total Warranty Cost Reduction: Identify areas of improvement to reduce total warranty costs and propose technical solutions.
  • Presentation Skills: Prepare and present technical reports, design reviews, and project updates to stakeholders.
  • Industry Competitiveness: Stay up to date with latest advancements and incorporate innovative solutions into product designs.

Job Description

Design, Develop, Validate and release of Electronic Control Units for all North America vehicle lines in conjunction with supplier and other areas within the company.

Development and revision of DFMEA\'s, DVP&R\'s. Support problem resolution and vehicle builds in multiple corporate locations including assembly plants and proving grounds.

Monitor and resolve all open GIMs and Warranty issues for the components responsible for development.

Create documentation to release parts changes per the Client SWX development process and ensure a smooth fully validated implementation.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor\'s degree in electrical, Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in automotive engineering, with a focus on electrical systems and components.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to resolve technical issues and optimize designs.
  • Strong interpersonal communication, adaptable to work on multiple programs, proactive and driven for results.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor\'s degree in electrical engineering.
  • DFSS green belt certification.
  • Demonstrated working level experience in decomposing intended function into requirements.
  • Experience with Design Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (DFMEA).
  • Experience with Design Verification Plan & Report (DVP&R).
  • Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
