Job summary

G-Tech is seeking a Design Release Engineer (Body Closures) to lead design validation, DFMEA/PFMEA, and release activities for automotive closure systems including hoods, doors, liftgates, and decklids.

You will collaborate with Studio, Design, Manufacturing, Suppliers, and Quality to ensure GD&T, tolerance analysis, and regulatory compliance, delivering manufacturable solutions across the product lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Experience with DFMEA and PFMEA methodologies.
• Ability to perform measurements and design assessments using CAD tools.
• Experience supporting automotive product development activities.

Responsibilities

• Lead and facilitate DFMEA sessions to identify potential failure modes and mitigation actions.
• Support design validation and release activities throughout the product lifecycle.
• Develop and review closure geometry for hoods, doors, liftgates, decklids, and related body components.
• Collaborate with Studio and Design teams to translate styling surfaces into manufacturable engineering solutions.
• Review designs for compliance with corporate engineering standards and design rules.
• Create and maintain engineering evidence packages, validation reports, signoffs, and supporting documentation.
• Author and manage Supplier Corrective Action Forms (SCAFs).
• Coordinate with suppliers to resolve quality concerns and drive corrective actions.
• Perform CAD reviews, interference checks, tolerance analysis, and design verification activities.
• Apply GD&T principles to ensure proper fit, finish, and assembly performance.
• Support design reviews, engineering gateways, and audit readiness activities.
• Verify compliance with safety, crash, durability, and regulatory requirements.

Position Summary

We are seeking a Design Release Engineer (Body Closures) to support the design validation, risk assessment, and release activities for automotive body closure systems. This role will focus on front and rear closure geometry and engineering execution, including hoods, doors, liftgates, decklids, and adjoining components.

The ideal candidate will have experience with DFMEA, PFMEA, CAD tools (NX/CATIA), design validation, supplier quality activities, and engineering documentation. This position will work closely with Studio, Design, Manufacturing, Suppliers, and Quality teams to ensure compliance with engineering standards, federal regulations, fit & finish requirements, and product quality objectives.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and supplier coordination abilities.
