Job summary

HTC Global Services seeks a Design Release Engineer – Automotive Closures to lead design validation and release for closure systems, including hood, doors, decklid, and related parts. You will develop 3D geometry, perform DFMEA, support PPAP, and collaborate with Studio, Design, engineering, quality, and suppliers to ensure fit, finish, and craftsmanship.

• Ability to take measurements in CAD.
• Experience with PFMEA.
• Experience with CAD and Studio interface activities.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD software (NX or CATIA) for design, development, and release.
• Ability to review CAD models and drawings and verify design intent.
• Ability to perform clash/interference checks.

Responsibilities

• Lead and facilitate DFMEA sessions with cross-functional teams.
• Identify potential failure modes, effects, causes, and mitigation actions.
• Maintain and update DFMEAs throughout the design lifecycle.
• Review designs against engineering rules and standards.
• Document deviations and drive resolution with design teams.
• Assemble and maintain design verification evidence packages.
• Support design reviews, PPAP activities, and program milestones.
• Author SCAFs to document nonconformances and corrective actions.
• Track supplier corrective actions through closure.
• Serve as technical contact with suppliers on design intent and quality issues.
• Participate in supplier reviews and problem-solving meetings.
• Use basic CAD to review models and communicate changes.
• Collaborate with Studio and Design teams on feasible closure geometry.
• Develop hinges, latches, seals, and reinforcements while maintaining design intent.
• Perform interference checks and iterate designs.
• Develop 3D CAD models for closure panels and components.
• Apply GD&T according to drawing standards.
• Support cross-functional design reviews and gate milestones.

Overview / Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented Design Release Engineer to support the design validation and release process for automotive closure systems. This role focuses on risk analysis, design compliance, supplier coordination, CAD support, and design verification activities to ensure components meet engineering and quality standards from concept through production release.

The role supports front and rear closure geometry and engineering execution, including hood, doors, decklid/liftgate, and adjoining parts. Responsibilities include developing 3D geometry and design concepts, assessing designs through analytical and physical evaluation, supporting compliance with applicable federal regulations, and ensuring fit, finish, and craftsmanship through proper GD&T implementation.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and facilitate Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA) sessions with cross-functional teams.
• Identify potential failure modes, effects, causes, and mitigation actions.
• Maintain and update DFMEAs throughout the design lifecycle.
• Review component and system designs against engineering design rules and standards.
• Document design deviations and work with design teams to drive resolution.
• Compile, organize, and maintain design verification evidence packages, including test reports, analysis results, DFMEA outputs, and sign-offs.
• Support design reviews, PPAP activities, and program milestones by maintaining complete and audit-ready documentation.
• Author Supplier Corrective Action Forms (SCAFs) to document nonconformances, root cause analysis, and corrective/preventive actions.
• Track supplier corrective actions through closure.
• Serve as a technical point of contact with suppliers regarding design intent, quality issues, and corrective actions.
• Participate in supplier reviews and problem-solving meetings.
• Use basic CAD skills to review models and drawings, verify design intent, and communicate changes with design engineers.
• Collaborate with Studio and Design teams to translate styling surfaces into feasible, releasable closure geometry.
• Develop engineering structures such as hinges, latches, seals, and reinforcements while maintaining design intent, surface quality, fit, and finish requirements.
• Perform interference and clash checks against mating components and iterate designs to resolve styling and engineering conflicts.
• Develop 3D CAD models for automotive closure panels, hinge reinforcements, and adjoining components.
• Apply GD&T according to drawing standards.
• Support cross-functional design reviews and gate milestones.
