Job summary

Mortenson is seeking an experienced Design Phase Manager II to lead the design phase, coordinating with owners, architects, engineers, and trade partners to ensure the owner’s vision translates into design solutions and construction parameters. The role may involve two projects or one larger project, with a focus on performance, schedule, and quality.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Civil, Construction Management, Estimating, or equivalent field.
• Minimum of eight (8) years relevant experience.
• Strong teamwork orientation, initiative, communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
• Detail orientation sufficient to organize and manage multiple project tasks.
• Ability to travel up to 100%.

Responsibilities

• Overall project leadership during the design phase related to customer experience, financial performance, schedule, estimating, design, and planning.
• Lead the project team in achieving scope and budget alignment, schedule alignment, and an integrated team experience.
• Establish and manage project budget and scope expectations, budget trending logs, and communications.
• Create and supervise project schedules and key achievements, hold team members accountable for reaching set achievements.
• Ensure regulatory approvals and permits are obtained.
• Ensure alignment of design documents and project execution plan.
• Identify and resolve technical design and specification concerns.
• Develop project margin plan and act as primary contact with owners, architects, engineers, and trade partners.
• Monitor and measure project success factors for customers and Mortenson team.
• Foster an integrated team experience through communication and collaboration.
• Mentor design phase team members for direction and growth.
• Lead by example with coaching and feedback.
• All other duties as assigned
