Mortenson is seeking a Design Phase Manager I/II to lead the design phase with a focus on customer experience, financial performance, and schedule adherence. You will manage budgets, scopes, and communications, coordinate with owners, architects, and engineers, and ensure design documents align with the project execution plan, while guiding a diverse design team.

The role supports up to two projects, with salary determined by experience and location, and offers opportunities across offices

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree as specified
• Strong teamwork, initiative, comms, problem solving and leadership
• Detail oriented to manage multiple project tasks
• Basic construction law understanding
• Intermediate MS Office and project/web apps
• Positive attitude and strong customer service
• Ability to interpret Mortenson policies
• Willingness to travel up to 100%

Responsibilities

• Lead project team to align scope, budget and schedule
• Establish and manage budgets, scope, and communications
• Create and supervise project schedules and milestones
• Ensure regulatory approvals and permits are obtained
• Align design documents with project execution plan
• Handle bid packages and contracts manuals
• Identify and resolve design/ specification issues
• Develop project margin plan
• Serve as primary owner/architect/engineer contact during design
• Monitor success factors for customers and partners
• Foster integrated team collaboration and growth
• Mentor design phase team and promote career development
• Build relationships across diverse backgrounds and levels
• Lead by example and provide coaching and feedback
• Ensure high performance of the design phase team
