Mortenson in Nashville is seeking an experienced Design Phase Manager to translate the owner's vision into effective design solutions and construction parameters, collaborating with staff at all levels.

The role requires leadership across design-build projects, development of proposals, and management of design-phase schedules and budgets. Travel up to 30% is expected while ensuring regulatory and LEED considerations are integrated throughout the design process.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction, Civil, Architectural Engineering, Construction Management, Estimating, or equivalent field
• 6+ years relevant experience
• Experience leading process improvement, digital transformation, data-informed decision-making, or technology implementation preferred
• Hands-on experience with Power BI, Power Platform, construction tech platforms, generative AI or similar analytics tools preferred
• Strong teamwork, initiative, communication, problem-solving and leadership skills
• Detail-oriented, capable of managing multiple tasks

Responsibilities

• Define project expectations with owners and customers
• Solicit, select, and contract with designers for design-build projects
• Develop and present project proposals
• Create detailed design phase and baseline construction schedules
• Manage design phase costs, estimates, value engineering and budget
• Lead design team for constructability and logistics
• Guide estimating on technical design and cost documentation
• Ensure regulatory approvals and risk management
• Travel up to 30%
