Mortenson is seeking a Design Phase Engineer I or II - Structured Cabling to join our team in Minneapolis, MN. The role supports project leadership during design phase, aligning scope, budgets, and schedules for a smooth transition to construction operations.

The position offers two levels based on experience (I: 2+ years; II: 4+ years). Base compensation varies by location, with a comprehensive benefits package and a strong focus on safety and collaboration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor9s degree in Construction, Civil, or Architectural Engineering, Construction Management, Estimating, or equivalent field.
• Basic understanding of construction law and generally accepted business practices
• Microsoft Office, Project, and pertinent web application skills at an intermediate level
• Active listening skills and effective communication including an openness to diverse input and feedback
• Ability to travel up to 25%

Responsibilities

• Support and potentially lead EPC contract negotiations with customers, including scope and budget alignment, schedule alignment, and integrated team experience
• Assist with establishing and managing project budget and scope expectations, budget trending logs, and communications/resources
• Craft and manage project schedules and key milestones, hold team members accountable for milestones
• Assist in regulatory approval and permitting process
• Assist in the preparation of bid packages and contract manuals
• Support bid analysis and subcontractor selection
• Identify technical design and specification concerns and escalate as needed for resolution
• Build relationships with diverse backgrounds and organizational levels
• All other duties as assigned

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION

Design Phase Engineer I or II - Structured Cabling

SUMMARY:

Mortenson is currently seeking an experienced Design Phase Engineer I or II - Structured Cabling to join our team.Design Phase Engineers are responsible for providing support to project leadership during the design phase as it relates to customer experience, financial performance, schedule, estimating, design and planning that results in a smooth transition to construction operations.

*This position offers opportunities at both levels I or II, allowing candidates to apply based on their experience and qualifications.Compensation for this role isdeterminedbased on factors such as experience and location.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Support and potentially lead EPC contract negotiations with customers, including . Support the project team in achieving scope and budget alignment, schedule alignment, an integrated team

The base compensation range for this role is:$84,100 - $126,100. Actual range is higher for the following office locations: Denver, CO and Chicago, IL - 5%, Seattle, WA, and Portland, OR - 10%, Washington, D.C. - 12.5%). Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual’s knowledge, skill, and experience with consideration given to internal equity.
