Job summary

Modern Air Design, LLC is seeking a skilled Residential HVAC Estimator & Designer to join our growing team in Charlotte, NC. You will design residential HVAC systems, select equipment, size ducts, and create accurate estimates that meet customer needs and profitability targets.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with load calculations (Manual J, S, D preferred), reads plans, and communicates clearly with homeowners and internal teams.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in residential HVAC design, estimating, or system sales.
• Strong knowledge of residential HVAC systems, including heat pumps, furnaces, air conditioners, and ducted/ductless solutions.
• Proficiency in load calculations and reading construction plans.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Perform in-home or plan-based evaluations to determine HVAC needs.
• Design complete systems including equipment, ductwork, and load calculations.
• Prepare detailed estimates for replacements, upgrades, and new builds.
• Develop proposals showing options, efficiency, and pricing to homeowners.
• Collaborate with sales, installation, and service teams for executable designs.
• Ensure designs and estimates comply with codes and company standards.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of HVAC equipment and best practices.
• Use estimating, CRM, and design software to document and track projects.
