Reliable Ducts Heating & Cooling in Jacksonville, FL is seeking a Residential HVAC Estimator to provide accurate cost estimates for single family projects. Responsibilities include take-offs, Manual J load calculations, duct design, bid reviews, and turnover to Construction Team.

Qualifications

• Residential HVAC estimating experience preferred; new construction a plus.
• Hands-on ACCA Manual J load calculations using specialized software.
• ACCA Manual D duct design experience with proper sizing and external static pressure.
• Ability to read blueprints, plans and specifications; knowledge of Florida codes.

Responsibilities

• Review plans, specifications and documents to understand scope.

Job Overview

A Residential HVAC Estimator plays a crucial role in the construction process by providing accurate cost estimates for single family residential projects. Our ideal candidate will be responsible for take-offs, Manual J load calculations and Manual D duct design, bid review, specification review, preparing estimates, turnover of projects to the Construction Team, and communicating with customers and vendors.

Responsibilities

• Review plans, specifications, and other documents to understand the scope of the project
• Perform ACCA Manual J residential load calculations by plan, elevation, and orientation
• Produce ACCA Manual D duct designs sized to the calculated airflow and the available external static pressure
• Select equipment per ACCA Manual S so systems match the calculated loads without oversizing
• Prepare permit-ready design packages for submittal to local building departments, in compliance with the Florida Building Code and the Florida Energy Conservation Code
• Calculate the costs of materials, labor, equipment, and other expenses required to complete the project
• Prepare detailed bids and proposals for clients, ensuring all costs are accounted for
• Work withsuppliersto obtain quotes and ensure competitive pricing
• Maintain plan-by-plan cost templates and option pricing for repeat builder communities
• Identify potential financial risks and develop strategies to mitigate them
• Compile and present detailed cost reports to upper management
• Maintain accurate records of estimated and actual costs for future reference
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Previous experience in residential HVAC estimating or cost estimation is highly valued, new construction is preferred
• Hands-on ACCA Manual J load calculation experience using industry software such as Wrightsoft / Right-Suite, Elite RHVAC, Cool Calc, or equivalent is preferred
• ACCA Manual D duct design experience, including duct sizing to external static pressure and equivalent length is preferred
• Ability to read and take off from blueprints, mechanical plans, and specifications
• Working knowledge of Florida Building Code and Florida Energy Conservation Code requirements for residential mechanical permits
• A bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field is preferred
• Strong analytical skills and proficiency in Excel
• Professional certifications such as Certified Cost Professional (CCP) or Certified Estimator Technician (CET) is perferred
• A field background as an installer, lead installer, or service technician before moving to the estimating desk is a plus
• ServiceTitan experience is preferred
• Self-starter with an entrepreneurial mindset
• Bilingual is a plus
