Job summary

HCL Technologies Limited in Austin is seeking a Hardware Test Engineer to join the Hardware Test Engineering (HWTE) group as a vendor for SMT HW managed service. You will design and integrate test fixtures and instruments for product validation and manufacturing testing, supporting home/VPG/Accys NPI testing in Austin. Ideal candidates have a B.Sc.

in EE with 3+ years experience or an M.Sc. in EE with 1 year, with strong analog/digital/power electronics knowledge and hands-on PCB/schematic work

Qualifications

• B.Sc. in EE with 3+ years of experience or M.Sc. in EE with 1 year
• Strong knowledge of analog, digital, and power electronics hardware architectures
• Experience in schematic & PCB layout design using Allegro or a similar CAD tool
• Ability to design and debug complex electrical schematics and PCB layouts and propose clear, relevant experiments
• Working knowledge of USB 3.2, USB-PD, Display Port, PCIe, I2C, SPI technologies and protocols
• Good oral & written communication skills - able to communicate complex engineering concepts clearly to cross-functional teams

Responsibilities

• Design and integrate hardware test fixtures and test instruments for product validation and manufacturing testing.
• Implement product testing solutions from prototype through mass production.
• Collaborate with system design and diagnostics teams to define test strategies.
• Serve as the technical expert for testing methodologies.
• Present testing approaches and results to cross-functional teams.
• Coordinate with Contract Manufacturers to ensure test hardware and software are production-ready.
• Develop, document, and execute product test plans and validation procedures.
• Specify test stations, diagnostics, and process control requirements for manufacturing environments.
• Implement parametric data collection and test process control mechanisms.

Client’s Hardware Test Engineering (HWTE) group is looking for a passionate, highly collaborative

vendor for supporting SMT HW managed service. In this engagement, vendor need to provide

SMT Engineering Service Support for Hardware Test, SW, and Program Management. Home/VPG/Accys NPI testing (Austin position)

Key Responsibilities

• Design and integrate hardware test fixtures and test instruments for product validation and manufacturing testing.
• Implement product testing solutions for new products from prototype stage through mass production.
• Collaborate with system design and diagnostics teams to understand system architecture and define functional and performance test strategies.
• Serve as the technical expert for system testing, troubleshooting, debugging, and validation methodologies.
• Present and communicate testing approaches, results, and engineering solutions to cross-functional teams.
• Act as the primary liaison with Contract Manufacturers to ensure test hardware and software are validated and production-ready.
• Develop, document, and execute product test plans and validation procedures.
• Specify test stations, diagnostics, and process control requirements for manufacturing environments.
• Implement parametric data collection and test process control mechanisms.

Skill Requirements

• B.Sc. in EE with 3+ years of experience or M.Sc. in EE + 1 years of relevant experience
• Good understanding analog, digital, and power electronics hardware architectures and design
• Experience in schematic & PCB layout design using Allegro or a similar CAD tool
• Ability to design and debug complex electrical schematics and PCB layouts and propose clear,relevant experiments
• Working knowledge of USB 3.2, USB-PD, Display Port, PCIe, I2C, SPI technologies andprotocols, and design
• Good oral & written communication skills - be able to communicate complex engineeringconcepts clearly and concisely to various cross functional teams and leadership.

Other Requirements

• Knowledge on GenAI Agentic solutions is preferred.
• Prior experience with bed of nails test fixture and designing custom test instruments
• Prior experience of performing parametric data statistical analysis (CPK, GRR etc)
• Prior technical leadership and/or project management experience

Compensation and Benefits

A candidate’s pay within the range will depend on their skills, experience, education, and other factors permitted by law.
