Job Title: Hardware Engineer

Job ID: 72121

Position Type: Full Time

Location: Minneapolis, Minnesota

Responsibilities
  • Hardware Design & Development
  • Contribute to the design and development of medical electronic devices (safety-critical subsystems preferred).

  • Perform PCB bring-up, functional testing, and design validation of boards and modules.

  • Review and interpret schematics and PCB layouts; provide DFM/DFT feedback in collaboration with layout engineers.

  • Work on mixed-signal designs including analog front-ends, digital logic, SMPS/linear power supplies, isolated power, and RF blocks (as applicable).

  • Testing, V&V & TMV
  • Develop test protocols, test cases, and traceability to design inputs and requirements.

  • Execute Design Verification & Validation (DV&V) with complete documentation and objective evidence.

  • Lead Test Method Validation (TMV): define acceptance criteria, conduct Gage R&R/repeatability studies (as needed), and generate TMV reports.

  • Build and maintain test fixtures, setups, and automation scripts (where applicable).

  • Debugging & Issue Resolution
  • Perform systematic debugging using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, network analyzers, signal/power generators, and spectrum analyzers.

  • Conduct root-cause analysis (RCA) for board- and system-level issues; drive corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) with cross-functional teams.

  • Compliance & EMC
  • Support EMC/EMI pre-compliance and compliance testing for medical devices (e.g., IEC 60601 series).

  • Collaborate with regulatory/compliance teams to meet safety, EMC, and environmental requirements; plan design mitigations (filtering, grounding, shielding, isolation).

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner with Firmware/Embedded teams for board bring-up, interface validation, and system integration.

  • Work closely with Quality/RA to ensure documentation meets ISO 13485 QMS and design control expectations.

  • Support manufacturing transfer with process validation inputs and test coverage alignment.

Required Qualifications
  • 3–5 years of experience in medical electronics or closely related regulated hardware development.
  • Solid grasp of EE fundamentals: circuits, signal integrity, power integrity, noise, grounding, isolation, and measurement techniques.

  • Hands-on with PCB bring-up, schematic/PCB layout reviews, and lab instrumentation (network analyzer, oscilloscope, signal/power generator, DMM, spectrum analyzer).

  • Experience across analog, digital, power, and RF blocks (not necessarily expert in all, but comfortable working across domains).

  • Proven debugging and issue analysis skills, including methodical data capture and documentation.

  • Practical experience with EMC testing for medical devices (pre-compliance, mitigation, and report interpretation).

  • Strong exposure to Design V&V, test protocol/report creation, TMV (Test Method Validation), and traceability to requirements.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with Firmware teams on bring-up and system integration.
