Job summary

Donaldson is seeking a Design Intern for the Nicholasville, KY facility to support the custom design team on new customer orders and ongoing projects. You will model and draft in SolidWorks, read blueprints, and assist with manufacturing processes, upkeep of documents, and presentations for stakeholders.

The role requires pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Mechanical, or Manufacturing Engineering with SolidWorks experience and proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled undergraduate pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Mechanical, or Manufacturing Engineering.
• SolidWorks experience required.
• Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook) proficiency expected.

Responsibilities

This internship takes place in Nicholasville, KY, during a 10-12-week period.

A Design Intern at our Nicholasville, KY for summer 2027 would be assigned to the facility custom design department and would assist with customer orders for new equipment and support of processes, manufacturing and operational improvement, preventative maintenance, and machine repair. Work side-by-side with the current staff and also work independently on some projects. Your skills with SolidWorks, Microsoft Office, blueprint reading, electrical, mechanical, fabrication, carpentry and troubleshooting will be of value to this internship. Our designers are eager to help the right candidate grow.

Role Responsibilities

Custom Design support Participate in working on new customer orders and supporting the custom design team with modeling and drafting.

Evaluation Criteria

Throughput on orders and print support for custom designed solutions Reduced lead-time through the custom design department for order processing.

Production Involvement

Engage in the production cycle: from raw material to finished goods.

Minimum Qualifications

Currently enrolled undergraduate pursuing a bachelor's degree in: Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering SolidWorks experience Experience in Microsoft Office applications: PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with drafting or blueprint reading Understanding of the design of experiment process Honed active listening skills, with intention and ability to put feedback from others into practice Initiative to raise questions, bring forth ideas and self-starter nature Interest and experience in creating presentations in PowerPoint to present to various stakeholders Minimum 3.0 out of a 4.0 cumulative GPA Strong communication skills
