Job summary

UDig offers a 2027 Summer Internship Program that invites you to move beyond the classroom and join a people-first technology consulting firm. You will contribute to live client design work, support user research, and partner with engineers to extend design systems.

This 8-week program is hybrid, located in Nashville or Richmond, and pays a competitive hourly wage.

Qualifications

• Portfolio showing user-centered design process ( coursework, personal, or professional ).
• Strong knowledge of UI/UX principles including information architecture, responsive design, and accessibility.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with eagerness to learn.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to live client design work — wireframes, user flows, interactive prototypes, and high-fidelity mockups.
• Support user research and usability testing: prepare sessions, synthesize findings, and translate insights into design recommendations.
• Collaborate with engineers to ensure designs are buildable and maintain design systems.

What You ' ll Do:

• Contribute to live client design work - wireframes, user flows, interactive prototypes, and high‑fidelity mockups.
• Support user research and usability testing: help prepare sessions, synthesize findings, and turn what you learn into data‑backed design recommendations.
• Partner with engineers to make designs buildable and help extend and maintain design systems and component libraries.
• Present design rationale to project teams and client stakeholders, and iterate quickly on the feedback you receive.
• Dedicate time to research emerging technologies and best practices relevant to your project, applying your academic knowledge in a professional setting.

What You ' ll Bring:

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Interaction Design, Graphic or Visual Design, UX Research, Service Design, or a related design field
• A portfolio - coursework, personal, or professional - that shows your user‑centered design process, not just finished screens.
• Working knowledge of Figma (or a comparable design tool) and core UI/UX principles, including information architecture, responsive design, and accessibility.
• A strong passion for technology consulting and a proactive, ownership‑oriented mindset.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the enthusiasm to ask questions and learn rapidly.
• Ability to work full‑time for the duration of the 8‑week summer program (6/7-7/30) in a hybrid model based out of one of our hub locations (Nashville or Richmond).
