Job summary

WaveWorks seeks a strong software and systems engineer to own the engineering environment supporting its silicon team. You will manage EDA tool suites, license servers, and the broader software and data infrastructure enabling design, bring-up, characterization and test.

The role emphasizes reliability, reproducibility, and scalability, with the engineer acting as the tech owner of the systems enabling analog, digital and verification designers. A broad scope is intentional.

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field required, with 3+ years software or systems engineering experience or MS with 1+ year.
• Strong software engineering in Python and at least one other language, with a track record of building and maintaining tools used by peers.
• Expert use of Git and version-control workflows, including repository administration.
• Deep Linux systems administration: servers, storage, networking, user and access management, and scripting.
• DevOps practice: configuration management, reproducible environments, containers, CI, and automation of repetitive work.
• Daily, effective use of AI coding agents and assistants in engineering work.
• High autonomy and breadth: own undefined problems and deliver without close direction.
• Enjoys building critical infrastructure and owning it.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure and maintain Synopsys, Cadence and Siemens EDA tool suites and license servers.
• Own knowledge of the design environment and document it for vendor-independent use.
• Open and track support tickets, reproduce failures, coordinate with vendors, drive issues to closure.
• Run engineering workstations, compute servers, shared storage and access control.
• Build reproducible development environments, software deployment, and CI-style workflows around design and test.
• Build bench-test automation and instrument-control software for silicon bring-up and characterization.
• Develop data pipelines: acquisition, metadata, parsing, storage, analysis, plotting and reports.
• Create regression tests and tools to compare results across devices and configurations.
