HNTB Minneapolis is seeking a Design Group Director to lead our structures, roadway, and transit teams. This senior role oversees budgets, staffing, and quality, guiding multi‑discipline design and delivery while aligning with the office strategy.

You will mentor staff, cultivate client relations, and help pursue major projects across Minnesota and beyond. The position requires engineering leadership with 12+ years of practical experience including 4 years supervising teams of 25–40 people.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering with 12 years of practical experience including 4 years of supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

• Directs and supervises the development and management of operating budgets for the departments within the Group.
• Oversees multi‑discipline activities, establishes priorities and assigns staff to projects.
• Drives strategic planning, SSA processes and project pursuits with group and office leadership.
• Manages contracting processes, scope, work plans and fee reviews for group activities.
• Leads project delivery processes with Work Planning and Monthly Project Reviews.
• Recruits, develops and retains department staff and supports performance reviews.
