Job summary

SCS Swiderski (SCS) seeks a Design & Engineering Manager to lead a multi-disciplinary team delivering design, engineering, and pre-construction coordination for residential/multifamily projects in Wisconsin.

You will partner with Development, Construction, Estimating, Procurement, and Project Management to translate opportunities into constructible, compliant, and financially viable documents, guiding teams through design-to-build readiness.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, construction management, architectural design, building science, or closely related discipline; advanced degree is a plus.
• 10+ years of progressively responsible experience in design, engineering, pre-construction, construction, or technical project delivery, with substantial experience supporting residential or multifamily development and construction.
• 5+ years of demonstrated people-leadership experience, including hiring, coaching, and performance management.
• Experience with pre-construction planning, constructability reviews, design-to-budget, value engineering, and transition from design to construction.
• Licensure or credential (PE, Architect) required; licensed professionals retain responsibility for regulated work.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day leadership, direction, coaching, and accountability for the Design & Engineering Team; establish expectations and performance standards.
• Oversee design, engineering, drafting, BIM, code compliance, and constructability; ensure compliance with standards and quality-control procedures.
• Lead pre-construction planning, milestone management, and coordination with Development, Construction, Estimating, Procurement, and Project Management.
• Foster cross-functional collaboration, manage design standards, systems, and workflows, and facilitate risk management and issue resolution.
• Represent Design & Engineering in meetings with stakeholders, managing resources and prioritizing multiple concurrent projects.
