Job summary

Kiewit Infrastructure Engineers is seeking a Design Engineering Manager to lead multi-disciplinary design teams across the United States, Canada, and US Virgin Islands. The role involves guiding staff through criteria development, preliminary and final design, and construction support, with exposure to design-build and allied delivery methods.

Office locations include NY, Raleigh, and Lone Tree, CO, with hybrid work and travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or architecture.
• PE license preferred and to be obtained if not currently licensed within a defined timeframe.
• 10+ years of design engineering or design management experience with increasing responsibility.
• Technical background as a design engineer in infrastructure disciplines.
• Experience in design delivery from inception to construction, including during construction.
• Strong communication and organizational skills; ability to coordinate across geographies.
• Familiarity with design-build and progressive design-build delivery methods.

Responsibilities

• Support management and coordination of multi-disciplinary design teams during development and execution.
• Assist senior design leadership with staffing plans, budgets, and schedules.
• Monitor design progress and adherence to scope, schedule, and quality.
• Coordinate with construction teams to ensure practical, cost-effective designs.
• Identify project risks and assist in mitigation strategies.
• Support subconsultant scopes, fee negotiations, and performance monitoring.
• Participate in client and stakeholder meetings as required.
• Track and communicate schedule, quality, and financial metrics.
• Ensure compliance with codes, standards, and contract requirements.
