Job summary

Rotating Machinery Services, Inc. is seeking a Design Engineer to join our Houston engineering and operations team. The role focuses on inspecting, modeling and designing components, with collaboration from senior engineers and occasional field work.

The ideal candidate will have a 4-year engineering degree (mechanical preferred), strong problem solving and the ability to manage multiple projects. Travel up to 15% may be required; on-site shop environment in South Houston, TX.

Qualifications

• Strong problem solving, organizational and analytical skills.
• Mechanical aptitude for machinery and ability to read and understand drawings, engineering standards, inspection reports and other service-related documents.
• Ability to manage multiple projects within assigned priorities.
• Ability to work with supervision and make independent decisions consistent with knowledge/experience level.
• Ability to communicate effectively in speech and in writing.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, analyze and document product designs which meet function, cost, reliability, manufacturability and safety requirements.
• Assist experienced engineers while developing specialized engineering skills.
• Perform engineering analysis for projects to include preliminary designs and calculations.
• Review inspection reports and render engineering dispositions in accordance with established standards.
• Perform equipment dimensional inspection.
• Support design efforts for 2D and 3D CAD layout creation.
• Create 3D CAD models utilizing SOLIDWORKS design software.
• Effectively communicate information to colleagues.
