Job summary

Avery Dennison in Fitchburg, MA is seeking a Design Engineer to lead development of precision plastic components, test fixtures, and mechanisms for high-volume automotive and industrial parts.

You will plan multiple projects, collaborate with Sales, Operations, and Quality, travel 10–20% globally, and apply your SolidWorks expertise and knowledge of injection molding tooling to deliver reliable products.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering and 6+ years of experience in engineering design of plastic components and high-volume automotive parts.
• Non-degreed candidates with 12+ years of experience will also be considered.
• Proficiency in solid modeling CAD software (SolidWorks) with injection molding tooling knowledge.
• Experience with rapid prototyping, ISO9001/IATF16949 quality systems, APQP and PPAP procedures.
• Willingness to travel 10–20% on a global basis.

Responsibilities

• Work 1-2 days/week at our plant in Fitchburg, MA to support initiatives at the facility.
• Design, analyze, prototype, and qualify new plastic components and mechanisms through internal project management processes.
• Plan, schedule, and execute multiple product development projects simultaneously while meeting key deliverable deadlines.
• Collaborate with Business Development, Sales, Operations, and Quality to identify market needs and maintain high-volume manufacturing quality standards.
• Diagnose and solve customer technical problems and troubleshoot quality complaints across the product portfolio.
