Job summary

Avery Dennison is seeking a Senior Material Design & Simulation Engineer to join the global Advanced Materials Solutions team. You will support CFD and FEA efforts for multi-component materials design and polymer processing to aid in new product development and commercialization.

This role is based in Mill Hall, PA, with a hybrid work environment. You will collaborate across product development scientists, pilot facilities, operations, contract manufacturers, and equipment vendors to drive

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of experience applying numerical simulations, mathematical modeling and experimentation to product/process development.
• Understanding of fluid flow, pressure, temperature, mixing, and reaction environments inside vessels and equipment.
• Strong project management and leadership with ability to drive multiple projects and communicate across levels.
• Experience with laboratory safety and Process Safety Management (PSM); willingness to travel 10–20% domestically and internationally.

Responsibilities

• Apply mathematical modeling and numerical simulation to optimize product design, polymer processing and material performance.
• Collaborate with product development scientists, pilot facility teams, operations, contractors and vendors to accelerate R&D and commercialization.
• Provide technical feedback for business cases, assist with senior management presentations and feasibility assessments.
• Contribute to new process technology development including fluid flow design, equipment specification and reactor design.
• Work with IP counsel on patent-related activities while solving problems with strong analytical skills.
