Job summary

Insight Global is seeking a Design Engineer for a top steel manufacturing client. This candidate will design open web steel joists for commercial and industrial facilities, review project documents, perform structural calculations, and collaborate with cross-functional teams through design and production.

Ideal candidates hold a B.S. in Civil Engineering (ABET) with PE licensure, 4+ years in steel construction, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

B.S. Degree in Civil Engineering (ABET accredited).
Minimum 4 years of structural engineering experience in steel construction.
Active Professional Engineer (PE) license.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently.
Ability to work from the Dallas office and travel regularly to the Grapeland plant.

Responsibilities

Design open web steel joists for a variety of commercial and industrial projects.
Review structural drawings, architectural drawings, and project specifications.
Prepare and review joist design calculations, including sealed calculations when required.
Provide technical guidance to detailers, sales teams, shop personnel, and production teams.
Communicate with internal teams, customers, and design professionals throughout project lifecycles.
Participate in plant immersion, training, and collaborative design reviews in Grapeland.
Support product promotion efforts with specifiers and at industry conventions.
Ensure all designs meet industry standards and manufacturing requirements.
