Job summary

gpac is seeking a Senior Design Engineer for its Grapeland, Texas facility to lead the design and development of steel joist and decking systems. This hands-on role emphasizes safety, efficiency, and innovative solutions within a manufacturing setting.

You will review designs for quality and code compliance, mentor teammates, and apply industry standards while collaborating across engineering and manufacturing teams to deliver customer-focused solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural, Architectural Engineering or related field.
• Strong experience in structural engineering and/or steel design.
• PE license required; knowledge of building codes and design standards.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop steel joist and steel decking systems.
• Provide technical guidance on complex engineering and design challenges.
• Review designs for quality, safety, code compliance, and performance.
• Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and other teams to deliver customer solutions.
• Identify opportunities to improve engineering processes, productivity, and product quality.

About The Opportunity

A well-established manufacturing company is seeking an experienced Senior Design Engineer to join its engineering team at its Grapeland, Texas facility.

This is a hands-on engineering role focused on the design and development of safe, efficient, and innovative steel joist and decking solutions. The Senior Design Engineer will provide technical expertise, solve complex engineering challenges, and contribute to continuous improvement across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop steel joist and steel decking systems.
• Provide technical guidance on complex engineering and design challenges.
• Review designs for quality, safety, code compliance, and performance.
• Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and other teams to deliver customer solutions.
• Identify opportunities to improve engineering processes, productivity, and product quality.
• Support and mentor other design professionals as needed.
• Apply engineering standards, codes, and best practices to design projects.

Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural, Architectural Engineering, or related field.
• Strong experience in structural engineering and/or steel design.
• Strong understanding of engineering principles, design practices, and structural systems.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license.

Preferred

• Experience with steel joist, decking, structural steel, or metal building systems.
• Familiarity with AISC, SJI, SDI, ASCE, and applicable building codes.
• Experience with engineering/design software and automated design tools.
• Manufacturing environment experience.

Compensation & Benefits

• $120,000-$140,000 Base Salary
• ROA Bonus: Up to 33%
