Job description

Position Summary:

The Design Engineer will be responsible for designing multiple projects, collaborating with other design disciplines both internal and external to PEC to develop engineering solutions for PEC’s clients. This role involves preparing design deliverables for various projects while upholding PEC’s standards of excellence. The position requires proficiency in BIM/CAD software, hand calculations, and computer-based calculations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Perform engineering design and coordinate with other design staff for the production of construction documents and specifications in compliance with building codes, including construction administration and the development of reports/studies.
  2. Participate in construction administration tasks such as reviewing submittals, conducting site investigations, and responding to RFIs under the supervision of the Project Engineer.
  3. Conduct design and takeoff computations manually and using software tools.
  4. Organize multiple projects and tasks to ensure timely completion according to PEC standards.
  5. Maintain project information and files following corporate standards and workflows.
  6. Communicate effectively and coordinate with the Design Team to complete design tasks across various projects.
  7. Additional projects and responsibilities may be assigned at the company's discretion.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong work ethic.
  • Experience with industry-standard CAD and modeling software.
  • Knowledge of codes and regulations, plan interpretation, and discipline-specific design.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field from an ABET-accredited university is required.

License and Certification:

  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certification.

Manual dexterity and coordination are needed for operating equipment such as computers, calculators, and similar devices. Bending, reaching, standing, and walking may also be required.
