Job summary

Chromalox is seeking a Design Engineer in Pittsburgh, PA to design and develop innovative heating solutions. You will work with product managers, manufacturing engineers, QA, and production to ensure successful design implementation.

You will conduct studies on design for products, subsystems, and structures, review proposals and data, and ensure designs meet customer and industry standards. This role requires 3+ years of related experience and a BS in Engineering.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of related experience in a related field
• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering required.

Responsibilities

• Applies engineering principles to design, modify, or develop facilities, testing, machines, equipment, or processes.
• Conducts analytical studies on engineering proposals to develop design for products, equipment, machines, associated and subsystems components, and structures.
• Creates and releases Engineering Drawings, Bills of Materials (BOMs), ASME calculations and Routings.
• Analyzes data to determine feasibility of product proposal; analyzes product or equipment specifications and performance requirements to determine designs that can be produced by existing manufacturing or processing facilities and methods.
• Develops custom procedures as needed.
• May determine feasibility of designing new plant equipment or modifying existing facilities considering costs, available space, time limitations, company planning, and other technical and economic factors.
• Confers with research personnel to clarify or resolve problems and develops design, design modifications as required.
• Prepares or directs preparations of product or system layout and detailed drawings and schematics; coordinates manufacturing or building of prototype product or system.
• Analyzes data and calculations to determine if design meets functional and performance specifications.
• Studies engineering and technical publications to keep abreast of technological changes and developments in industry.
• Completes work ‘on-time’ and within budget.
• Ensures product fit, form and function meet customer requirements.
