Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university.
• 3–6 years in product design or manufacturing engineering; plastics, fabrication or industrial products preferred.
• Strong Creo 3D CAD skills with drawings, assemblies, and BOM usage.
• Ability to create work instructions, installation instructions, and technical specifications.
• Experience with test methods, verification planning, and interpreting results.
• In-depth exposure to UL-1738, ULC-S636, ANSI Z21, and NFPA 54 (or quick learner).
• Plastic injection molding design experience and supplier/tooling collaboration.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office; strong organization and prioritization.

Responsibilities

• Design new products, assemblies, and customer-specific components using Creo with 3D models and drawings.
• Translate customer needs and standards into technical requirements; communicate to stakeholders.
• Develop and maintain BOMs, specifications, and supporting documentation (work/installation instructions).
• Ensure designs comply with codes and standards (UL-1738, ULC-S636, ANSI Z21, NFPA 54).
• Apply DFM/DFA and target-cost methods to ensure manufacturability and cost-effectiveness.
• Support vent sizing, layouts, configuration guidance, and feasibility/cost analysis for custom requests.
• Design parts for plastic injection molding and coordinate with tooling suppliers.
• Develop tooling, jigs, fixtures, and gauges; coordinate fabrication with internal resources or suppliers.
• Support prototype and first-article builds with Manufacturing; troubleshoot and implement improvements.
• Create and execute design verification plans, test procedures, and lab documentation.
