Job summary

Karman Space & Defense is seeking a Design Engineer to develop detailed 3D models, drawings, and production documentation for composite components used in maritime defense systems. You’ll collaborate with manufacturing, quality, and project teams to optimize part performance and design efficiency.

The role requires a BS in mechanical engineering or related field and at least two years of CAD experience, with SolidWorks proficiency.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in mechanical engineering or related field.
Two or more years of CAD design experience.
SolidWorks proficiency is required.
Experience with NX, AutoCAD, CATIA, or Inventor is a plus.
Strong engineering fundamentals and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

Develops and modifies 3D models and detailed CAD drawings using CAD software.
Designs components and assemblies per project requirements and standards.
Creates bills of materials and defines material requirements.
Collaborates with manufacturing, quality, and project teams to support production.
Supports prototype development, testing, and engineering procedures.
Maintains design documentation, including drawings and revisions.
Identifies opportunities for design improvements and cost‑effective solutions.
