Job summary

Karman Space & Defense, a leader in maritime defense systems, seeks a Design Engineer – Composites Manufacturing to design and detail composite components for defense applications, collaborating with manufacturing, quality, and projects teams.

You will develop 3D models, drawings, BOMs, and production documents, contribute to prototype development, and drive design improvements with CAD tools such as SolidWorks and other platforms.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field required.
• Two or more years of CAD design experience required.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks; experience with NX, AutoCAD, CATIA, or Inventor a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develops three-dimensional models and detailed engineering drawings using CAD software.
• Designs components and assemblies per project requirements and industry standards.
• Develops bills of materials and specifies material requirements.
• Collaborates with manufacturing, quality, and project teams to support production and engineering activities.
• Supports prototype development, testing, and procedure creation.
• Maintains accurate design documentation including drawings, revisions, and technical reports.
• Identifies opportunities for design improvements and cost-efficient engineering solutions.
