Job summary

AAF International seeks a Design Engineer II to design, develop and manufacture products from conception through production, using Autodesk AutoCAD and Inventor to create drawings and shop packages for sheet metal and air filtration products.

The role requires 3–5 years of sheet metal design experience, HVAC knowledge, and ERP/MRP familiarity. You will contribute to new product development, manage BOMs, and ensure drawings meet customer specs.

Qualifications

• Associates Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• HVAC knowledge or experience preferred.
• 3–5 years of sheet metal design experience.

Responsibilities

• Review job packages and specifications to ensure customer requirements.
• Participate in new product development projects.
• Generate product and part drawings using Autodesk Inventor/AutoCAD.
• Revise existing drawings based on customer requirements.
• Prepare manufacturing BOMs using ERP software.
• Prepare manufacturing instructions, IOMs and shop packages.
• Maintain document control under the QA program.
• Analyze and resolve shop questions and problems.
• Select parts and materials per established standards.
• Contact the customer to verify specifications.
• Generate weld maps and welds to AWS requirements.
• Perform other duties as required.

POSITION OBJECTIVE:

The Design Engineer II is responsible for the design, development and manufacture of new and existing products from inception, through design and into production. The design engineer utilizes computer aided 3D modeling software to create new drawings, revise existing drawings, generate product submittals and shop drawings as required for various sheet metal and air filtration products.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• * Review job packages and specifications to insure product is in compliance with customer requirements.
• * Participate in new product development projects.
• * Generate product and part drawings using Autodesk AutoCAD & Inventor 3D modeling software or equivalent programs.
• * Revise, as required, existing drawings based on customer requirements.
• * Prepares manufacturing Bill of Materials utilizing ERP software.
• * Prepares manufacturing instructions sheets, IOM's and shop packages.
• * Prepares purchase requisitions as required.
• * Maintains document control as required under the Quality Assurance Program.
• * Analyze and resolve questions and problems in the shop.
• * Use established standards to select the correct parts and materials for each product.
• * Contact the customer if information is needed to verify product specifications.
• * Generate complex weldments and weld maps, sizing welds according to AWS requirements
• Perform other related duties as required by management

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS

• * A background in HVAC is preferred, with working knowledge of basic airflow and fan principles.
• * Good working knowledge of general drafting standards.
• * 1-3 years' experience using Inventor 3D modeling software.
• * 3-5 years' experience in sheet metal design.
• * An understanding of basic ECN processes. Familiarity with Autodesk Vault is a plus
• Proficient in ERP/MRP systems such as ERP/LX, MAPICS, BPICS, MACPAC or other similar platform.

KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE:

3-5 years sheet metal product design experience in a team-based environment. Individuals with relevant work experience will also be considered

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT

Associates Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field

LICENSES OR CERTIFICATIONS

License or certificates in any of the above mentioned trade skills are beneficial
