Job summary

Southland Industries, based in Schertz, Texas, seeks an entry-level engineer to contribute to conceptual design and calculations for HVAC, plumbing, and related systems. You will assist senior engineers and prepare drawings, specifications, and load calculations as part of project support.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, basic system knowledge, and strong communication skills. Proficiency in CADD and Microsoft Office is desirable, with PE licensure preferred for advancement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field required.
• PE license preferred.
• Basic knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, fire protection or related systems.

Responsibilities

• Assists higher-level engineers in design tasks.
• Performs basic calculations, drawings and specifications for HVAC, plumbing, fire protection or related systems.
• Calculates heating/cooling loads, equipment sizing, friction and hydraulic calculations.

Provides conceptual design for specific projects and performs calculations, drawings and specifications relevant to HVAC, plumbing or other systems.

• Performs basic calculations, drawings and specifications related to HVAC, plumbing, fire protection or other systems
• Performs basic calculations for a project, such as heating/cooling loads, equipment selection and sizing, friction loss calculations, hydraulic calculations, etc.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field
• PE license preferred
• Basic Knowledge of applicable systems design, such as fire suppression, HVAC, plumbing, etc.
• Ability to read basic mechanical and plumbing plans.
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Good computer skills, including CADD and Microsoft Office Products, including Excel
