Job summary

Southland Industries seeks an engineer in Fort Worth, TX to provide conceptual design for HVAC, plumbing and related systems, and to perform calculations, drawings and specifications.

Responsibilities include basic load calculations, equipment sizing, friction and hydraulic calculations, and reading mechanical plans. Requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering; PE license is preferred. Strong communication and CAD/Office skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field is required.
• PE license preferred.
• Basic knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and fire suppression design.
• Ability to read mechanical and plumbing plans.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficient in CAD and Microsoft Office products, including Excel.

Job description

Provides conceptual design for specific projects and performs calculations, drawings and specifications relevant to HVAC, plumbing or other systems.

• Performs basic calculations, drawings and specifications related to HVAC, plumbing, fire protection or other systems
• Performs basic calculations for a project, such as heating/cooling loads, equipment selection and sizing, friction loss calculations, hydraulic calculations, etc.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field
• PE license preferred
• Basic Knowledge of applicable systems design, such as fire suppression, HVAC, plumbing, etc.
• Ability to read basic mechanical and plumbing plans.
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Good computer skills, including CADD and Microsoft Office Products, including Excel
