Job summary

Southland Industries in Fort Worth, TX, seeks an entry‑level engineer to provide conceptual design for HVAC, plumbing or other systems and perform calculations, drawings and specifications under supervision.

The role supports senior engineers, reads basic mechanical and plumbing plans, and contributes to project tasks using CAD and Microsoft Office. PE license is preferred but not required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field required.
• PE license preferred.
• Entry-level role.
• Basic knowledge of applicable systems design (HVAC, plumbing, fire protection).
• Ability to read basic mechanical and plumbing plans.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficient with CAD and Microsoft Office (Excel).

Responsibilities

• Assist higher-level engineers with design tasks.
• Perform basic calculations, drawings and specifications for HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, or other systems.
• Prepare calculations for loads, equipment sizing and friction/hydraulic calculations as needed.

Provides conceptual design for specific projects and performs calculations, drawings and specifications relevant to HVAC, plumbing or other systems.

Position Details

• Assists higher-level engineers in design tasks
• Performs basic calculations, drawings and specifications related to HVAC, plumbing, fire protection or other systems
• Performs basic calculations for a project, such as heating/cooling loads, equipment selection and sizing, friction loss calculations, hydraulic calculations, etc.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field
• PE license preferred
• Entry-level role
• Basic Knowledge of applicable systems design, such as fire suppression, HVAC, plumbing, etc.
• Ability to read basic mechanical and plumbing plans.
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Good computer skills, including CADD and Microsoft Office Products, including Excel
