Job summary

Lippert is seeking a Design Engineer to join a dynamic team focused on R&D for furniture and marine applications. You will create 3D drawings and layouts using MasterCam, Top Solid, Lectra and Solidworks, while validating tolerances, materials and costs.

You will also develop seating structures, generate BOMs, coordinate with production and purchasing, and ensure designs meet safety and constructability standards in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma and/or related associates degree in engineering or two years’ experience; or four years related experience/training in drafting, design, and engineering
• Equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
• Ability to read and interpret documents, and to carry out written or oral instructions

Responsibilities

• Create R&D for all departments in the plant (furniture & marine)
• Produce 2/3D drawings and layouts in MasterCam, Top Solid, Lectra and Solidworks
• Prepare specifications including foam, vinyl, wood and plastic
• Estimate costs and develop bill of materials
• Nest for production floor and develop seating structures and production programs
• Plan and present arrangements in graphic form or scale models
• Coordinate workload to achieve objectives
• Read and interpret reference documents and drawings from multiple sources
• Ensure design standards for quality, safety, constructability, economy and usability
• Review calculations, models, drawings and documents for accuracy
• Assist others with production issues and site/client data delivery
• Maintain frequent contact with production, purchasing, and supervisor
