Job summary

Irwin Seating is seeking a Project Design Engineer 1 in Altamont, IL to support the design, development, and execution of seating projects. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure tasks meet engineering standards and customer requirements on time.

You will create and update 2D CAD layouts and 3D models, prepare drawings and revisions, and assist with ECR processes to implement approved changes, helping the project stay on track and deliver high-quality results.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
• Proficiency in 2D and 3D modeling using Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD.
• Strong interpersonal and cross-functional teamwork skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.
• Ability to follow guidance and solve technical challenges.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with project team to identify challenges in design, manufacturing, or coordination.
• Develop design adjustments, material selection, and production improvements with guidance from senior engineers.
• Create and update 2D CAD layouts and 3D models; prepare drawings and revisions.
• Review part designs for accuracy and manufacturability.
• Communicate updates to stakeholders and ensure alignment with timelines.
• Support ECR processes and implement approved changes.
• Promote collaboration across engineering, manufacturing, purchasing, and IT.
• Provide team support and assist with urgent project needs.
