Job summary

Lippert Components, Inc. seeks a Design Engineer in Chicago, IL to contribute to R&D for seating and related furniture components. You will create 2D/3D designs using MasterCam, Top Solid, Lectra, and Solidworks while coordinating with production and purchasing.

Candidates should have a high school diploma or related degree with 2 years' drafting/engineering experience; a manufacturing background is preferred. This full-time role offers competitive compensation and benefits.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or related engineering degree required with drafting/engineering experience.
• Experience reading and interpreting documents essential; strong mechanical aptitude.
• Manufacturing background and multi-discipline project experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Create R&D for all plant departments including furniture and marine.
• Develop 2D/3D drawings and layouts using MasterCam, Top Solid Design/Nesting, Lectra, SolidWorks.
• Prepare specifications for foam, vinyl, wood and plastic.
• Estimate costs and bill of materials and support production nesting.
• Develop designs for complete seating structures and production programs.
• Plan and present arrangements in graphic form or scale models.
• Coordinate workload to meet project objectives.
• Review calculations and design documents for quality and accuracy.
• Assist production with issues and deliver data to job sites.
• Collaborate with production, purchasing and supervisor.
