Responsibilities

• Designs major components and major portions of functional systems and prototypes.
• Develops or improves products and facilitates manufacturing operations.
• Develops layouts, sketches, and notes to present design proposals.
• Investigates design factors including manufacturability, materials, interchangeability, weight and cost.
• Coordinates with other organizations affected by design development.
• Makes layouts of assemblies and details of devices, mechanisms, structures, and products.
• Checks layouts and drawings for clarity, conformity to standards, and accuracy.
• Identifies design errors and recommends revisions or improvements.
• Applies Creo design for mechanical and structural product definition.
• Uses Windchill PLM or PDM for product data and configuration management.

Summary:

• Designs major components, major portions of functional systems, technically advanced prototypes, promotional products, or specific products.

• Develops or improves products and facilitates manufacturing operations.

• Develops basic data and makes preliminary layouts, sketches, and notes to present design proposals.

• Investigates design factors including ease of manufacture, material and equipment availability, interchangeability, replaceability, strength-weight efficiency, contractual specifications, and cost.

• Coordinates with other organizations affected by design development.

• Makes layouts of assemblies and details parts of devices, mechanisms, structures, and products.

• Checks completed layouts and drawings for clarity, completeness, conformity to standards, procedures, specifications, and accuracy of calculations and dimensioning.

• Identifies design errors, omissions, and other deficiencies and recommends revisions or improvements in design layout.

• Applies Creo design for mechanical and structural product definition.

• Uses Windchill PLM or PDM for product data and configuration management.

Requirements:

• Active Interim Secret clearance is required to start.

• Must be a U.S. Person (as defined by ITAR).

• At least 3 years of experience with Creo design.

• At least 2 years of experience with Windchill PLM or PDM.

• At least 2 years of experience with mechanical primary and secondary structures.

• At least 1 year of experience with concept development.

• At least 1 year of experience with design review content preparation.

• At least 4 years of experience creating finished 3D models.

• At least 2 years of experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).

• At least 2 years of experience with complex mechanical or electrical concepts.

• Desired: Model-Based Definition (MBD) experience.
