Job description

We are seeking a Design Specialist II for our client to support the design and development of complex mechanical and electromechanical systems, components, assemblies, and products. This role works closely with engineering, manufacturing, quality, suppliers, and customers to create innovative, producible designs that meet performance, cost, and regulatory requirements.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience designing heavy welded structures and mechanical systems, with strong Creo modeling expertise and a solid understanding of ASME and military standards.

Responsibilities
  • Develop innovative mechanical and electromechanical concepts for existing products and new development programs
  • Create detailed design layouts, schematics, models, drawings, and engineering documentation
  • Develop fully parametric 3D models and fully associative drawings using Creo
  • Prepare drawing packages in accordance with ASME, military, and company standards
  • Review drawings, specifications, test plans, procedures, and engineering change documentation for accuracy and compliance
  • Perform technical calculations, tolerance studies, mass property calculations, and design evaluations
  • Analyze designs for manufacturability, fit, function, tolerances, materials, finishes, and integration requirements
  • Identify design deficiencies, assembly interferences, and engineering issues; recommend corrective actions
  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, quality, suppliers, and customers to resolve technical challenges
  • Support product development, design improvements, and configuration management activities
  • Assist with the development and maintenance of design standards and best practices
Qualifications
  • Associate Degree or Certification in Engineering Drafting, Design, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum of 6 years of drafting and design experience, including at least 2 years of design responsibility
  • Current, hands-on experience using Creo for 3D modeling and drawing creation
  • Strong understanding of model-based design and fully associative drawing development
  • Experience performing design calculations, tolerance analysis, and engineering evaluations
  • Ability to interpret and apply engineering, military, and industry standards
