Job summary

PBK Architects, Inc. is seeking a Design Director to lead the firm’s design efforts across all offices.

You will supervise designers, guide project development, and ensure consistency with firmwide standards while supporting marketing and business development for client-centered design. The ideal candidate has 15+ years of experience, a Bachelor of Architecture, and NCARB registration; LEED AP is preferred.

Qualifications

• A minimum of 15 years of experience.
• At least a Bachelor of Architecture.
• Must be a Registered Architect (NCARB).
• LEED AP preferred.
• Corporate, educational and/or healthcare experience preferred.
• Strong commitment to customer service.
• Ability to work well under pressure, juggle and prioritize multiple projects and adjust work accordingly, often against tight deadlines.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Understanding of design tool technologies such as REVIT, Rhino, Sketch-up, Generative AI, etc.
• Ability to interact with senior management, external client organizations, and vendors.
• Must be quality minded and self-motivated.

Responsibilities

• Oversees and advocates for the highest quality, innovation, and elevation of design across the office.
• Supervises a team of designers and oversees design presentations and development.
• Provides design direction to ensure firmwide consistency in outcomes.
• Collaborates with firmwide design leaders to advance the design culture.
• Speaks to integration of firmwide technologies into the design process.
• Develops and implements firmwide design guidelines and standards.
• Mentors design staff and participates in professional organizations.
