Job summary

General Motors Company seeks a Design Manager to lead design and engineering activities for construction projects across GM sites. Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in engineering, architecture or related field.
• 4+ years of experience in architecture, engineering or construction.
• Experience coordinating facilities design and construction activities on major projects.
• Knowledge of design management, scheduling, procurement and project controls.

Responsibilities

• Lead the preconstruction technical path from planning through coordinated documents.
• Organize SMEs and partners to develop requirements, criteria and engagement plans.
• Maintain design basis, scope narrative and decision logs as traceable controls.
• Lead design governance, approvals and risk tracking to closure.
• Coordinate regulatory, permitting and AHJ coordination.
• Direct AE firms and design-builders through schedules and reviews.
• Lead design phase, manage priorities and improve tools and team capability.
