Job summary

General Motors is seeking a Construction Project Manager to provide construction project management services for manufacturing plants and other sites, overseeing all phases from funding approval through occupancy. The role requires coordinating multi-discipline teams, managing schedules, and navigating complex construction challenges with proactive problem solving.

The position emphasizes self-management, strong communication, and the ability to travel up to 50% (domestic and international).

Qualifications

• 5+ years in project management experience within the industrial OR construction fields.
• Bachelor's Degree preferred, or equivalent professional experience.
• Exposure to coordinating facilities design and construction activities.
• Exposure to Construction Contracts including engineering drawings and specifications.
• Exposure to Building codes and construction specifications.
• Exposure to construction safety and Safety Contract Management process.
• Exposure to project budget management including change order processes.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Must be willing to travel up to 50% of the time both internationally and domestic.

Responsibilities

• Initiate and organize project teams consisting of multi-discipline members from engineering, finance, purchasing, safety, contractors, and stakeholders.
• Manage changing priorities and construction schedules with minimal direct supervision.
• Employ rigorous logic to solve difficult schedule and construction problems with effective solutions.
• Identify future issues related to construction schedules and create competitive concepts for facility design and construction.
• Demonstrate strong self-management by prioritizing tasks and driving projects forward.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
