Job summary

Southland Industries offers an internship program introducing students to design-build, HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection. A project engineer intern assists design managers and project managers in coordinating projects with engineering, labor, equipment, materials, and subcontracted services.

The role develops skills in design, estimating, and scheduling to better understand coordinating the design-build process.

Responsibilities

• Support field labor and activities on site.
• Provide labor feedback to project teams.
• Support equipment and subcontractor procurement processes.
• Ensure document control and record-keeping.
• Assist in design, trade, and subcontractor coordination.
• Assist in budget analysis, cost and margin projections, and change estimates.
• Assist in developing and updating project schedules.
