Steve Madden is seeking a Sr. Technical Designer to own the technical design process for the Wholesale Apparel business.

This on-site NYC role focuses on transforming design concepts into bulk production samples, supervising fit, and coordinating with overseas factories to ensure quality and timeliness. The candidate should bring 8+ years in technical design, solid garment construction and pattern making expertise, and strong skills in Microsoft Office and Illustrator.

Qualifications

8+ years of experience as a Technical Designer.
Experience with junior's apparel.
Extensive knowledge of garment construction and pattern making.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Illustrator.

Responsibilities

Manage the technical design lifecycle from development through pre-production approval.
Generate technical specification packages and evaluate samples for spec and construction.
Collaborate with Designers to translate design concepts into bulk production ready samples.
Conduct fit evaluations on live models and provide adjustment recommendations.
Communicate corrections to overseas partners with clear notes, photos, and patterns.
Identify and resolve production, quality, and costing issues.
Track and manage workflow and daily factory correspondence.
Able to manage multiple projects and deadlines with support as needed.
