Job summary

Maricopa County is seeking a Maintenance Specialist to work outdoors year-round on flood control structures and related facilities in Arizona. You will help protect communities, maintain trails and spaces, and support public safety with hands-on construction/maintenance work.

The role requires CDL (Arizona Class A), two years of relevant experience, a high school diploma or GED, and a pre-employment safety history check. Opportunities for growth and strong benefits accompany the position.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience in construction and maintenance tasks.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Must possess a valid Arizona Class A CDL.
• Pre-employment safety history investigation for CDL/safety‑sensitive roles.
• tanker endorsement required at time of hire.
• Pest Control Certification (Right of Way) or ability to obtain within six months.
• Three+ years of general maintenance experience preferred.
• Experience in the public sector and with various tools/equipment.
• Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and maps.
• Knowledge of landscape and roadway maintenance and safety.

Responsibilities

• Maintain Flood Control structures with carpentry, electrical, irrigation, plumbing and other trades.
• Operate trucks and equipment and comply with safety regulations.
• Assist Field Supervisor with daily activity, material usage and reporting.
• Supervise maintenance crews in absence of leadership.
• Perform other duties as assigned or required.
